Improving Airflow Control for a Peristaltic Pump

The Problem

A customer of Swanson Flo, an MCE company, was using a manual regulator to control the air flow into a peristaltic pump. However, the manual regulator was not providing the levels of precision and automation the customer needed for their application. The customer reached out to Swanson Flo for a better way to manage air flow with an automated system.

The Solution

Swanson Flo calculated the following information from the customer to determine the problem with their air flow:

  • Inlet/outlet pressure
  • Flow rate
  • Desired control type

After gathering critical information, Swanson Flo sales representative Kai Swanson created a custom solution. Kai identified the right products which included a control valve, equipped with a side-mounted electropneumatic positioner. This valve provided the necessary automation and precision.

The customer needed the valve soon to minimize downtime and was happy when Swanson Flo delivered the solution quickly.

The Value

The company was highly satisfied with Swanson Flo’s implementation of the control valve and positioner. The reliable and automated solution to control air flow into their peristaltic pump was the perfect solution.

The upgrade enhanced operational efficiency, reduced manual intervention, and paved the way for potential future expansions with more automation.
