The Challenge
At 9 PM, an MCE steel customer ran out of spare pumps. Every minute spent waiting for a replacement was money down the drain. The customer, a bar mill creating square billets, called MCE company Lone Star Machine Works. Chans Hall answered and knew a provider that would get the job done.

MCE’s Solution
Chans called hydraulic pump provider Nova Hydraulics, a fellow MCE Company. Nova provides everything you need for hydraulic pumps. When the customer wanted special seals for those pumps within 24 hours, Nova came through.
By 6:50 AM, Nova had confirmed their ability to remanufacture one and deliver two new Rexroth pumps. Within a 24-hour window, the pumps were delivered to Columbia, South Carolina. Between the phone call and pulling it down, Nova successfully shipped the pumps out by the next morning.
The pumps were shipped to the customer right away, that next morning.
The Value
The customer resumed production immediately with little downtime. By receiving the materials within 24 hours, the customer saved an estimated $1-1.5 million, had it taken longer to get up and running. The customer spent $35k on the replacement pumps, which was minimal in comparison with savings. The job was smooth and gave the customers the right product when they needed it due to MCE’s quick communication and product availability.
