Calibrated for Confidence: MCE’s In-House Services

Written by Motion & Control Enterprises, LLC (MCE) | Aug 11, 2025 4:27:58 PM

Avoid Downtime with MCE’s In-House Calibration Services. MCE Flow Control Solutions provide the capabilities to serve a wide range of applications within almost any industry.

Precision matters in high-spec industrial environments. A single faulty reading can shut down an entire process, leading to costly downtime. In these situations, distributors and OEMs need more than a parts supplier. They need a partner who can ensure accurate calibration and responds promptly to keep operations running smoothly.

That’s where the MCE team makes the difference.

MCE provides pressure and temperature instrumentation products for a wide range of industrial applications. This is backed up by expertise to help identify the right instrumentation and calibration, fast turnaround and in-house services such as calibration, safety glass installation, laser marking and certified Ashcroft Diaphragm Seal Assembly.

Why is Calibration Important

MCE calibrates pressure gauges on site. We also carry other instruments that have been calibrated by the vendor. Calibration ensures that pressure gauges, thermometers, RTDs, and other instrumentation are measuring accurately and consistently within required tolerances. This is especially critical in industries where:

  • Regulatory compliance is mandatory (FDA, USDA, EPA, ISO, etc.).
  • Safety depends on accurate pressure or temperature readings (e.g., fire systems, chemical lines).
  • Product quality hinges on precise conditions (e.g., food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing).
  • Downtime is extremely costly (e.g., oil refineries, power plants).

Without proper calibration faulty instruments can lead to failed audits or inspections. Misreadings can cause product spoilage, unsafe conditions, or damage to equipment. And failed components can cause unplanned shutdowns to diagnose and fix the issue.

MCE’s in-house calibration services solve these problems by offering:

  • In-house calibration services for a wide range of gauges.
  • Fast turnaround (same day in urgent situations).
  • Complete certificates and documentation on file and traceable to NIST.
  • Proactive calibration reminders and scheduling.
  • Expertise in matching calibrations to application requirements.

Tested Doesn’t Always Mean Certified

MCE supplies components off-the-shelf or calibrated on request; both with quick turnaround times. However, when it comes to calibration, tested and certified are not the same. MCE tests all diaphragm seal assemblies by default to ensure functionality. A Certified Ashcroft Diaphragm Seal Assembler, MCE provides accurately calibrated products with a shortened lead time. Each certified calibration includes documentation traceable to NIST, which clients can access at any time to prove compliance.

Note: MCE includes official calibration certificates with the components upon customer request at the time of order.

Missing paperwork can delay inspections or hold up production. That’s why MCE makes it easy to retrieve records and help customers stay audit-ready, even when documentation issues come up.

Beyond speed and documentation, MCE adds value by guiding clients in selecting the most suitable options to meet their specific needs. Their team understands how requirements vary by industry and ensures that each instrument matches the performance requirements.

Instrument Calibration Services That Keep Systems Compliant—and Customers Confident

MCE serves some of the most heavily regulated and mission-critical sectors in the country. Their calibration lab supports applications across biotech, energy, chemical processing, and food manufacturing.

What makes MCE stand out?

  • In-house calibration for a wide range of gauges. Technicians work directly from the Rocky Mount, NC location, helping customers bypass factory delays.
  • Same-day service when uptime is on the line. MCE often assembles, calibrates, and ships a replacement gauge within hours to help clients recover from instrumentation failure.
  • Reliable documentation. Each calibration includes records traceable to NIST. MCE also provides documentation to support clients in meeting requirements by providing certificates of conformance and certificates of calibration.

Some customers face daily production risks due to mis-calibrated instruments, Downtime costs money. MCE can calibrate and ship faster than most manufacturers can process an order.

MCE also proactively supports customers with regularly scheduled recalibrations. These programs prevent discards and rejects, increases process safety, enhances product quality and maintains compliance with set standards and guideline. They also help companies avoid last-minute rushes when audits approach and reduce the likelihood of process interruptions.

Calibration Certification and Compliance

For clients in food production, pharma, and downstream oil and gas, paperwork and traceability matters as much as performance. MCE helps distributors and OEMs meet tight documentation requirements, including:

  • CD-5 certificates for refinery systems
  • Compliance tags for ASME BPE and 3-A sanitary standards
  • Custom dials and traceability for internal QA programs

When an OEM omits a certificate, MCE retrieves and delivers it—often within a day—so the component doesn’t get held up in a compliance check.

Trusted by Distributors to Solve Sourcing Headaches Fast

MCE acts as a behind-the-scenes hero for other distributors who need help delivering fast, accurate solutions to their customers. MCE carries over $2.3 million in instrumentation inventory, including gauges from Ashcroft, WIKA, RealTemp, and other import lines. MCE is familiar with government procurement and offers numerous products on GSA Schedule GS-07F-0113W. They offer more than most manufacturers can supply on short notice — the calibrated product and documentation ready for immediate shipment.   When uptime is at risk, MCE delivers what others can’t without the wait.

Examples of Success:

A pharmaceutical process equipment distributor switched to MCE after another vendor repeatedly failed to provide documentation. Now, MCE delivers properly calibrated sanitary gauges with all required certificates the same day the gauge ships, keeping their client in compliance and on schedule.

MCE also helps solve engineering roadblocks. When a car manufacturer required gauges and diaphragm seals for a new process, MCE collaborated with Ashcroft engineers to revise the specifications that would have caused premature failure. The result was a large order secured for the distributor, driven by trust in MCE’s technical insight and speed.

From the Lab to the Line: Customized Calibration for Critical Applications

Calibration isn’t one-size-fits-all. The team at MCE tailors every order to meet the specific needs of the process, whether it’s a sanitary dairy research line or a shipyard supplying the Navy.

Automotive process integration: A car manufacturer working on a critical process needed diaphragm seals and pressure gauges. MCE collaborated with Ashcroft engineers to review the initial specs, which would have led to premature instrument failure. They helped revise the configuration, secured the appropriate materials, and supported the distributor in closing a large order. The manufacturer credited MCE’s expertise with keeping the project on track.

Fire departments: Local fire inspectors bring in Sprinkler Gauges for regular calibration, required to maintain the integrity of sprinkler systems. MCE stocks fire-rated gauges with proper dating and labeling, calibrating them on-site to keep fire departments compliant and inspection-ready.

Dairy research at local university: A graduate student needed a sanitary pressure gauge that met food-grade standards. MCE worked with him and his advisor to source the right Ashcroft model, complete with MTRs, calibration certificates, and compliance documentation. The gauge was delivered, installed, and passed all inspection criteria.

When should you calibrate your instrumentation?

Manufacturers recommend calibration or certification every 12 months. We recommend that you calibrate and recalibrate as follows:

  • At purchase or before installation
  • During preventative maintenance
  • Annually for events like audits
  • During scheduled shutdowns
